Hand Planes

The beauty and organic use of hand planes is why they are one of the most collectible tools around. The simplicity of the hand plane is what we find appealing as well as the graceful curves that are found on most antique wooden planes. Antique hand planes look great displayed in your home and can bring a touch of rustic style to a contemporary room. The saw is our other favorite tool and for reasons that diametrically oppose why we love the hand plane so much (although a long saw can look great in the right home).

If you are interested in tool collecting the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association is a great place to start. They are dedicated to identifying and preserving early tools and studying how they were used decades or centuries ago.
