Fresh Flowers, You Owe it to Yourself!

fresh-flowers.jpg

It's official. Flowers are good for your health. Even if you've always thought so, now you have a study from Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital to back you up! eMaxHealth outlines some of the specifics of the study, but keeping fresh flowers in your kitchen (or anywhere) can definitely brighten your mood in the morning should you be feeling a bit down.

Rebecca Cole, a New York City floral and interior designer, as well as host of Discovery Channel's Surprise by Design, gives some helpful hints in the article for decorating with flowers. For example, try using different types of containers like tins and jars to switch it up. Next time you're at the grocery store, don't hesitate to grab a bouquet...or two!

Good post. When I got my first apartment, my step-mother insisted that get into the habit of picking up flowers from the store once a week. My very first bouquet, as a present from her, was a huge bunch of eucalyptus cuttings, in a huge vase. However, I'm pretty sure she did it because the place smelled like feet. :) But I still buy buy flowers, 25 years later...

Yes, its comforting to know that flowers are as good for your body as your mind but I think we've known that all along. Thanks for sharing those memories Justin - I bet you can still smell that first bunch as well.
