As New York's West Village continues to evolve from independently owned and operated storefronts to multiple outlets of the same retailer (i.e. Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren), Garber Hardware marches on as it has since before 1884 when it originated as a New York street cart selling tools to their first store opened in the West Village by the current proprietors great-great-grandfather.

Nathaniel now runs the store and you'd be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable shop owner which is refreshing considering the dopes we've all dealt with at our local big box retailer. Nathaniel is particularly experienced in dealing with the household dilemmas of urban dwellers who are more likely to call a landlord than do it themselves.
