Home Improvement Vacation

It may be tempting to getaway this weekend and hit the beach or relax in the mountains but many homeowners are taking advantage of the 3-day holiday weekend by staying at home and catching up on all of their DIY projects. Instead of putting money towards gas, lodging, or entertainment, they're renting jackhammers, buying spackle, or investing time in demo and build projects.

Consider investing a little sweat equity in your home this weekend and you just may feel more relaxed and satisfied come Sunday evening.

These projects should keep you busy this weekend.

Build an Outdoor Shower
Installing Faux Stone Pavers
Build a Retaining Wall
Make a Cheap Compost Bin
Setup a Backyard Firepit or Chiminea

Indeed, this is exactly our plan this Summer. We plan to finish a stone patio, paint our hallway and repaint our outdoor adirondack porch furniture. It's not the Grand Canyon, but it will give a much more lasting sense of accomplishment. We plan on seeing some movies, and going to two new exhibits at our favorite museums, having a couple of meals out and attending two pool parties. You don't have to leave home to enjoy your vacation!
  • Staycations are definitely catching on these days!
