New Homeowners want Old and Historical House Styles

New home developers are noticing an increase in demand for period architectural details that hearken to a historical style. Homeowners are requesting these homes in reaction to the run of the mill models that tend to look like McMansions.

"The old Norman Rockwell picture of life is appealing to people again," says Mr. Brasher, who builds in Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District, with a business plan to expand into adjacent historic districts as land becomes available for new construction. "We're all so busy and rushed, there's so much technology in our office jobs, when we get home we just want to step back in time, where everything's a little less hectic and more on a human scale."

  • I would like to know where this house ("Queen Anne Style") is located. I am searching for houses like this one, which VERY MUCH resembles the historic 1892 Governor Seay Mansion in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. In working with the museum associated with the Seay house, we have never been able to find original plans or any other house that looked so similar. We recently found one in Saratoga, New York, but the one you have presented here even has the same tower roof as the Seay house. A piece on the Seay House in Kingfisher can be seen at: http://kingcohistory.blogspot.com/2009/07/seay-...

Looking for any information you can offer to help our search. Thank you.
