The Gamble House: Arts and Crafts Architecture at it's Best

gamble-house.jpg

Beautiful residential architecture in Los Angeles is no secret. From Richard Neutra, Rodney Walker, and John Lautner, mid-century modern is well represented. But we have fallen in love with Charle's and Henry Greene's Gamble House.

Built in 1908, it is a pristine example of the Arts and Crafts style architecture. Located in Pasadena, CA, the Gamble House was lovingly restored in 2003 and now offers regular public tours Thursday through Sunday.

Check out their informative website for details on the history, events, and restoration.

  • I'm so jealous of the owner of this house. What I love about this house is that it doesn't look like other average houses, and the landscaping is truly excellent. =)
  • This is architecture at its best! It looks more like a jungle house with a modern twist. How many times did they renovate this? I hope to visit this soon!
