The Most Popular Do-It-Yourself House Projects

We'd like to try a little informal survey to see what DIY house projects you find yourself tackling the most. In our household the paint brushes seem to get the most use so it's been wise to invest in nice brushes and rollers. We also find ourselves decorating and hanging art regularly, both of which can require a hammer and nice cordless drill.

Let everyone know in the comments what house projects you tackle the most and what tools you value the most for these jobs?

  • Well, I'm still renting, so my most time-consuming around-the-house projects of late have been starting the mortgage pre-approval process (!) and doing some bike maintenance.

Does cleaning the wire grate on my grill count as a DIY project? :)
  • Except for electricity, there aren't too many jobs we DON'T tackle! A lot of painting goes on but I am almost always using a saw or a drill. And don't forget a tape measure -- preferably a locking one.

A good, cordless drill, a compund mitre saw, a jigsaw, and my RotoZip are almost always getting used for something. (Flooring, masonry, beadboard, fencing, vinyl panels for a shed ... these are some of the past year's projects and I'm about to embark on more flooring.)
