DIY Home Burials

coffin-home-burial.jpg

The DIY mentality has taken hold of some who prefer to be buried on their own terms which typically means a home built coffin and a resting place on their personal property.

One of the strangest businesses that has risen from this trend is the coffin maker whose work often doubles as a piece of furniture before being put to use as a coffin which is taking the term "reusable" to another level.

Mr. Lakin, a woodworker, makes coffins specifically for home funerals. Ranging in price from $480 to $1,200, they double as bookcases, entertainment centers and coffee tables until they need to be used.

  • I actually think this is a really good idea, is it not up to me how I get buried?

hey this dosen't bother me, makes more sense than spending so much more on a coffin that you'll only put in the ground.
