A Brush with Kindness in Los Angeles

Helping others this time of year seems natural. Previously I've donated time to Americare's but this year I'm volunteering with the Los Angeles chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

I will be joining their "A Brush with Kindness" program on Friday, Dec. 11th. It's a locally-operated program serving low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. The program is a holistic approach to providing affordable housing and assisting communities as well as families.

The jobs on Friday could include painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, weatherization and/or exterior clean-up. Whatever the task is I'm up for it and will leave knowing I've helped a homeowner in need improve their curb appeal.

There are Habitat for Humanity volunteer opportunities wherever you live.

Get involved.

  • Hi, I live in LA and have friday off from work and parenting duties. I'd love to be involved in this project but, (and I'm sure this is my fault) I can't seem to find the specifics in the link. Could you help me out,?
    Please and Thank-You,
    Alisha
  • Hi Alisha - Great to hear you'd like to be involved. You need to create an account under their volunteer section.

Then you can choose the dates and projects you'd like to work on. I'm not sure if there are still dates available for Friday and hopefully the weather will clear up.
  • Thanks!
