Spending the Day With Habitat for Humanity

In an effort to give back a bit this year I'll be spending today with Habitat for Humanity in Los Angeles.

As part of their "A Brush with Kindness" program my tasks could range from painting, landscaping, cleaning or any other type of outdoor job. Unfortunately the forecast in LA is calling for rain but we are pushing through and hope to achieve a lot despite the weather.

I'll post a recap of my experience with photos next week but you can follow me today via Twitter where I'll post updates and photos.

Thank you. I'm a long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity and their mission of eliminating poverty housing world-wide. Locally we have a program called Rebuilding Together that does what some affiliates do with the Brush With Kindness program, but the goal is the same and a worthwhile one -- helping keep people in their homes once they've got them and making them better places to live.

Hi Gene - Rebuilding Together sounds like another great program. Where is it located?

It's national (http://www.rebuildingtogether.org/). It used to be called Christmas in April.
