We like to say that Etsy is at the center of the handmade universe which was confirmed after getting a behind-the-scenes tour of their office in Brooklyn, NY. They truly celebrate their sellers as nearly 100% of their furniture and decor came from their community of handmade and vintage vendors.
One of my favorite pieces was their lunch table and bench built by Etsy seller David Ellison.
I was flattered by the opportunity to contribute as a guest curator to the Etsy blog and share my picks of unique furniture available on Etsy. It was a difficult task to keep my selection from running too long as their inventory of fabulous furniture runs deep and changes constantly.
Read on check out my picks with photos and descriptions and if you like what you see and are a member of the Etsy community, leave a comment with them as we'd both appreciate to hear what you think!

I can't stop looking at the pictures of a full apartment renovation that recently appeared in a guest post on one of my favorite blogs, A Brooklyn Limestone In Progress. The contributor, Nicole Cohen, just launched her own blog but stopped over at BL to share a wealth of pictures and information.
Nicole and her husband purchased the apartment with their two-week-old baby in tow. Almost two years later, Nicole says the apartment is approaching completion. Their full-scale renovation included combining two apartments and extending the kitchen, but I couldn't help but be inspired by a number of thoughtful touches that truly enhance the space.

If you're eager to alter the color of your hardwood floors but prefer a more classic, timeless hue, consider a gentle alteration using two techniques: whitewashing and pickling.
Whitewashing, an ideal treatment for pine floors, brightens wood while allowing the grain to show through, an ideal option if you don't want to camoflauge your hardwood's intricate design. Whitewash is becoming increasingly widespread, meaning you can pick up cans of white stain at your local home improvement store.

Mosaic tiles are found in many different sizes, materials, colors and textures.
In this NYC bathroom, the mosaic used here is a beautiful ocean hued matte stone finish. What impressed me was the notion to keep it SIMPLE, people!
When designing a smaller space, try to keep the color palette monochromatic or use colors that harmonize well together, as pictured. The blues, greens, greys and whites of this tile, installed floor-to-ceiling, create a calm guest bathroom that is timeless.
