Create DIY Storage With A Renovated Armoire

SalvagedCabinet.jpg

One of the best things about getting married? The gifts -- er, I mean, love and commitment! Let's face it - registering for household goods and appliances is a definite upside of marriage. And as my impending nuptials draw ever closer, my fiance and I find ourselves in a loft stuffed with stuff and in desperate need of storage. My solution for our pots, pans, dishes and glassware? A renovated armoire.

Because storage is at a premium in our one-room dwelling, I'm always on the lookout for creative solutions. I've been planning a trip to some of Kansas City's salvage shops to pick out an armoire, which I think will offer more storage space--and character--at a much lower price than a new piece of furniture.

Matthew Gray Gubler is Back Hunting Bad Guys on Criminal Minds Season 6

Criminal Minds season 6 premiere is tonight. If you're into crime procedurals you'll love this show. I'm also a bit biased as my brother, Matthew Gray Gubler, is still kicking ass as the resident genius/nerd special agent Dr. Spencer Reid.

Matthew's favorite holiday has always been Halloween and last year we took some photos of his bizarre Halloween haunt and shared some of his decorating tips. This year he's promised to top that as he's moved into a real-life haunted house and has been busy all summer doing a ton of remodeling.

ReadyMade Editor-in-Chief Andrew Wagner's Tribeca Loft

We recently had the good fortune to spend a few hours with Andrew Wagner the new editor-in-chief of ReadyMade magazine (formerly of Dwell and American Craft). He's actually been on the job for a few months now and we've got to say the magazine has been looking great!

First he led a print redesign that included a refreshed ReadyMade logo and cover, and now they've just re-launched ReadyMade.com with a bundle of new features and content. The Projects section looks to be a real winner.

Tips And Tricks To Enhance Small Living Spaces

SmallSpace.jpg

I share about 600 square feet and very little storage with my boyfriend. It's no wonder that I am on a constant quest for squeezing the most out of our small space.

This Old House did a great revamp of 1,500 square feet of space in Brooklyn (that occupies three kids) and offered these tips.

1. Install flooring, whether it's wood or tile, in a diagonal pattern to help make rooms appear wider than they are.

2. Keep compact rooms simple by using small-scale furniture instead of overstuffed pieces.
