The CDC Creates A Zombie Pandemic Graphic Novel

Anyone who's caught the first season of The Walking Dead on AMC knows that the CDC played a vital role in handling the zombie pandemic of which the heroes of the story are trying to survive. The show is also based on a series of graphic novels, and the actual real-life CDC seems to be taking a cue from the sucess of the show to make sure that you and your family are prepared for anything ... including a zombie apocalypse.

What started as a tounge-in-cheek blog post last May has become a full-on campaign from the government entity to help spread the word about emergency preparedness through social media outlets.

World's First Zombie-Proof House

Unless you've been hiding out in a bomb shelter in fear of Cold War nuclear attacks, you'd know the biggest possibly-irrational fear in the post-modern world is the zombie apocalypse. From TV shows to survival guides to the actual discovery of fungus-infested zombie ants in the Amazon (it's starting ...) preparing and being able to survive an otherworldly attack is at the forefront of more people's minds than you may think. In that regard, we'd like to introduce to you the world's first zombie proof house:

Designed by KWK Promes of Poland, this house entitled "Safe House" is built with the utmost in post-apocalyptic security in mind.

MACE Pepper Spray Gun Test

mace-gun.jpg

We ordered our MACE pepper spray gun last month and finally got around to testing it. Included in the package is the gun, one canister of pepper spray, and one canister of water loaded for testing.

The gun feels great in the hand and the only levers are to unlock the barrel so you can load an unload the cartridges and a safety at the rear of the barrel. The LED light is only visible at night and instead of a laser sight it's more of a 10 inch radius area that is illuminated which is similar to the spread of the pepper spray.

Stash Valuables In A Doortop

File this project under "ingenious." Have some small valuables or cash that you want to conceal? If you have a hollow core interior door, you can use a few tools to create an inconspicuous hiding spot.

Guys (and ladies)--this is an ideal time to smoke a cigar, because you'll need an aluminum cigar tube in which to store your valuables. Other supplies include:

*Washers
*Machine screw
*Hex nut
*Wood scrap
*Thumbtack
*Rubber gloves
*Goof-Off cleaner
*Scotch Brite pad

As for tools, you'll need several drill bits (1" spade; 1/4" brad point; 1/8" brad point; 3/4" spade), a file and a hammer and nails.
